The leaves continue to be beautiful and should hold through Nov. 7th or so. The ridge tops are past peak but the mountainsides are still gorgeous.

WOW... right now 10/29/08, I have to say the area is prettier then I have ever seen it. The leaves are at peak and we had some early snow. Unbelievably beautiful..
Cataloochee even opened up.. They are open weeks ahead of the earliest opening. The first on the east coast, including Canada to open. It's amazing how much snow they can make in a short time..
Fall Colors

The fall colors have started up along the Blue Ridge Parkway. My best guess is that colors are going to be spectacular between the 8th-20th. They look like they are in a more normal pattern this year. The last couple of years they were peaking later in the month. The colors that we are seeing now promise a better then average showing this year.
Gas is readily available and the prices are much lower here then in Asheville. In many cases 40-50 cents a gallon lower.
